  • In Preparation
Preparing your office contents for removal may seem a simple uncomplicated task but its amazing how many obvious mistakes are made. Here are some top tips:

INVENTORY Make a complete inventory listing of everything to be moved and give a copy to the removal company. Do not forget to include contents of any out buildings or stock cupboards.
DESKS are often moved on their sides, contents must be removed.
    CABINETS Remove all contents.

TABLES AND WORK BENCHES Clear surface area of debris.
PHOTOCOPIERS Check to see if the service company will allow an outside mover to move the machine. Failure to do so may void your machine's warranty. If given the go- ahead, remove all inks and toners and find out whether the copier requires some special servicing.

APPLIANCES Must be emptied of all loose articles.
BOXES Do not over or under pack your box as they are stacked for transportation. Ensure both sides are taped closed. Label boxes only on the side for easy viewing.
BOOKCASES AND STORAGE CABINETS These items must be completely empty.
COMPUTERS Disconnect these items. Service, warranty or leasing agent must be notified that you are moving your equipment. Personal computers must be padded with bubble wrap.

DELICATE MATERIAL Mark it FRAGILE. To assure special handling, advise the supervisor of its sensitive nature. Proper labelling and communication is essential in order to move these items safely.
OFFICE FURNITURE DISASSEMBLY We will usually disassemble most office furniture. However, some partition units may require specialised services such as an electrician or professional installation services.
METAL SHELVING All items must be removed prior to moving. Disassembling is usually not required.
EMPLOYEES Remove and transport all personal belongings (purses, family photos etc.) We will not be responsibe for loss or damage to these articles.

LABELLING Everything must be labelled no matter how inconsequential it may seem (floor mats, bins, water coolers). A corresponding floor plan should be drawn up to direct us where to place the item in the new office. All this seems meticulous but it will ensure a smooth-flowing move and will save your company money.
